12.09.2011 Post-Party Update
Thanks to everyone who came out to my birthday bash concert. The level of musicianship was stellar and the groove just went on all night long with a short break at 5AM to watch the total eclipse of the moon. We had three bands: Me, Wend Elsen, Phil, Richard Berman, and Rael Razor opened, then Beatworm (Richard, Rael, and Paul Turner) plus a few sit-ins and dancers, then Wendi and I joined the crew now called Basic Beat but with some drummer swaps (Sam Weinstein, Naomi Kamiya, Greg Shell, plus Rael and Ralph Granich doing drum duty). Lots of great players joined us and sat in, and kept it going with an all-night jam, and a grand time was had by all.

I am getting pretty stoked about the tunes coming together for our Acid Gospel Tarot Opera, Redemption. The songs sounded great with so many people playing and singing. Check out the studio versions and watch for more news about our full staging of the opera in April 2012.

If you were there--you know it was a musical night to remember. If you weren't, well, come join us in January at Bonita Hollow for the next Cowboy Lounge.

A little history.... For my Birthday in December 2009, we hosted an all-night jam at our art compound, Bonita Hollow, as a way of getting back into the groove Wendi and I had going with LiveAndUnplugged.org. Good friends showed up and we jammed all night, doing a mix of my original tunes, and country, jazz, and blues songs.

Soon we were doing it weekly, then twice weekly, then performing as the band Cowboy Lounge throughout 2010, with members Laramie Crocker, Wendi Olson, Sam Weinstein, Naomi Kamiya, Richard Berman, Nick Silva, Greg Shell, Coolius, and Seldom-Seen Phil.

We continue to host Cowboy Lounge jams at Bonita Hollow, so grab your axe, your dancing shoes, your best girl or guy, and come on down! Potluck at 7 PM, Music at 8 PM.
